TOUR DETAILS
The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu , one of South America’s top tourist destinations, is a trek through Inca ruins that follows in the footsteps of the ancient inhabitants 500 years ago. This four-day trail was recognized by National Geographic Traveler as one of the 25 best in the world.
Peru’s Inca Trail offers a unique experience, combining history, nature, and culture. During the trek, you’ll explore archaeological sites, descend from Andean peaks into cloud forests, and observe diverse native flora and fauna.
Only those who travel this path can witness the sunrise from the Sun Gate or Intipunku before reaching the lost city of the Incas.
Detailed Itinerary
Cusco - Piskacucho Km 82 – Patallaqta – Cusichaka - Hatun Chaka. (Easy Day)
We will pick you up from your hotel at 5:40 am and depart for the start of the trek at 5:45 am. The drive from Cusco to Piscacucho (km 82) takes about 3 hours, offering views of the Sacred Valley and Ollantaytambo. After a stop in Urubamba, we will arrive at km 82, where we will meet the camping equipment.
We will pass through the official Inca Trail checkpoint, cross a suspension bridge over the Urubamba River, and begin hiking on relatively flat terrain. We then ascend towards Willkaraccay, with views of the Inca village of Llactapata.
After a short break, we will arrive at Tayaroc for lunch, surrounded by native flowers and mountains. After lunch, we will hike to the Hatun Chaka campsite (3000 m), where you will enjoy a traditional Ecuadorian tea (tea) and buffet dinner. Showers are available for 10 soles.

Wayllabamba - Ayapata - Llulluchayoq - Dead Woman Pass - Pacaymayo
After breakfast, we begin with a 45-minute hike to Huayllabamba, followed by a climb to Ayapata. From there, we ascend through forested terrain, reaching 3,300 meters. Today is the most challenging stage, with a 1,200-meter climb in two stages. Despite the effort, the views of Apu Huayanay are well worth it.
We’ll make several rest stops before arriving at Llulluchapampa, where we’ll have lunch and enjoy panoramic views. Along the way, we may spot birds such as hummingbirds and Andean condors. We continue through cloud forest and grasslands, home to animals like tarucas and pumas.
Our final challenge is Warmiwañusca (Dead Woman’s Pass) at 4,215 meters. After a demanding hike, we reach the summit, where we take a group photo before descending to the Pacaymayo Valley. There, we set up camp and enjoy tea and a buffet dinner. The camp has two toilets, but no showers; buckets of hot water are provided.

Wiñaywayna- Intipunku - Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes
We wake up early, at 4:00 am, to hike to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) and enjoy the view of Machu Picchu at sunrise. The 1-2 hour hike includes some uphill sections, so a headlamp is recommended. Upon arrival, we descend to Machu Picchu, visit the Guardians’ Houses and terraces, and explore the site with expert guides. The citadel, known as the “lost city of the Incas,” is an architectural marvel. After the tour, we enjoy 20-30 minutes of free time, followed by a bus to Aguas Calientes, where we can relax before taking the train back to Cusco at 2:45 pm, arriving at 7:30 pm.
